Historic industrial waterfront scene in Buffalo, New York

Our Company

Founded in 1930. Nearly a century of expertise in global bulk materials.

A Legacy Built on Expertise

PBCo has its roots trading chemicals and raw materials in a business founded in 1930 by Paul Blum in Hanover, Germany. In its early years, PBCo specialized in the trading of industrial chemicals and raw materials, successfully capitalizing on Buffalo's industrial base of steel, chemicals, and abrasives.

In 1969, PBCo began building a successful business selling iron oxide to the cement industry and supplying gypsum to cement producers along the U.S. Eastern seaboard. By the late 1980s, PBCo's business was entirely built on supplying gypsum, iron oxide, cement, and clinker to cement manufacturers throughout North America.

By 1999, the company was shipping five million tons of products per year, making it the largest independent importer of cement and related products in the U.S. To date, ProMin, a PBCo-affiliated company, has chartered and received over 1,400 shiploads of bulk products and currently delivers tens of thousands of tons of bulk product per month by truck domestically.

Over the last two decades, PBCo has continued to expand its offerings, becoming a trusted partner in the evaluation, development, mining, marketing, and sales of CCRs from impoundments and landfills for beneficial reuse and environmental site remediation. Recently PBCo has also added solid alternative fuels to its product offering.
